Devil's Hopyard Wrapup

Posted by rcrudolph on Nov 16 2016 - 10:04am

The troop camped at Devil's Hopyard State Park in East Haddam on the weekend of October 21. Thirteen scouts and 5 adults had a great time. In addition to the park's hiking, stream fishing, bird watching and bicycling, we also put up the Troop 156 Monkey Bridge, "launched" apples, built and launched bottle rockets, played German lookout after dark and had a great campfire program. The weather was beautiful, the waterfalls too. A great time was had by all.

South Park Inn, Soup Kitchen

Posted by zkhan on Oct 25 2016 - 4:22pm

On Wednesday, September 28th Troop 156 served dinner to 125 men, women and children at South Park Inn in Hartford. Thanks to Garrett Molinari, Zuhayr Khan, Jordan Murphy, Andrew Kimmel and Zach Disette who all took a part in shopping, preparing and serving the meal. And a huge thank you to Ray Murphy who once again prepared the meal with the scouts and went to South Park Inn to have the meal ready to serve. The scouts were so polite, energetic and respectful! They represented our troop at the highest level. It is always a very rewarding night and much appreciated by all the people who enjoyed the dinner.  The next time the troop serves at the soup kitchen is April 26th. - Alison Arborio

Winter Trek

Posted by jditomasso on Sep 11 2016 - 8:05pm

The Winter Trek will again be held the weekend of Jan 7th, 2017.  This year, we have confirmed that it does NOT interfere with Mid-Terms.  If you have not gone, it's like a mini-sumer camp in the Winter.  There is rock-climbing, rifle shooting, cross country skiing, and more.

If you are interested, please sign up and pay by Sept 28th, and the fee will be $100.  After the 28th, you may still sign up, if space is available for $115.  You will not be considered registered, until you have paid, since the Troop needs to pay in full inorder to register.  Refunds will only be granted if your space can be filled.
