AT Hike Wrap-up

Posted by rcrudolph on Nov 16 2016 - 9:21pm

This past weekend the troop camped out near Straton Mountain in southern Vermont. Two adults and Eight scouts enjoyed their time hiking a total of twelve miles and enjoying the view from the fire tower. On the second night the troop slept in lean-to's, it was a cold night with some snow, on Grout pond.

Posted by rcrudolph on Nov 16 2016 - 10:05am

The Bees just announced our schedule for next season, and they have two Scout Nights planned, each with a camp out at New Britain Stadium after the game. The dates are May 13, 2017 and August 19, 2017, with both of the games starting at 6:35, and the camp out concluding at 7:30 am the next morning. Last year, over 50 scouts enjoyed a night in the New Britain Stadium outfield, complete with a movie on the video board. If the troop is interested send (Zuhayr Khan) an email at zuhayr.khan@yahoo.com and i will bring it up at the next meeting.

Devil's Hopyard Wrapup

Posted by rcrudolph on Nov 16 2016 - 10:04am

The troop camped at Devil's Hopyard State Park in East Haddam on the weekend of October 21. Thirteen scouts and 5 adults had a great time. In addition to the park's hiking, stream fishing, bird watching and bicycling, we also put up the Troop 156 Monkey Bridge, "launched" apples, built and launched bottle rockets, played German lookout after dark and had a great campfire program. The weather was beautiful, the waterfalls too. A great time was had by all.
