South Park Inn Soup Kitchen Re-Cap

Posted by jditomasso on Sep 30 2014 - 9:47pm

Hello everyone!
Volunteering for the Soup Kitchen was a great experience for all involved!  The boys, Derek Mitlehner, Noah & Leo Dittenhoffer, John Purdy and John Arborio all did a fantastic job at South Park Inn serving the women, children and men with respect, enthusiasm, focus, generosity and joy.  They showed pride in their service and in the boy scout Troop 156.  Thank you to the adult hands who went into organizing and contributing.  Alison Arborio for the shopping and carting and her shopper and son John, Marion Zanyk for tireless energy, cooking, cleaning and guidance/inspiration for the boys, Joseph Arborio for coming to transport food, serve and support the boys.  Jim Spencer and JaneMarie Galiette for coordination, guidance and support. And a final thanks to Reverend Dick Allen, it's always a joy to see you-and to be impacted by your inspirational words.

We will plan for our next Troop 156 serving at South Park Inn this coming April.

Thanks to all,
Shea Mitlehner

Posted on Sep 29 2014 - 2:47pm

Eagle Scout Candidates and Their Parents -

mandatory "Path to Eagle" Presentation/Information Session is planned for all Scouts at the rank of STAR and above along with their parent, at the Glastonbury Riverfront Community Center on October 8, 2014 from 7 to 8:30pm.

This is an extremly important meeting for those Scouts interested in, or currently pursuing the rank of Eagle, and is designed to help provide better insight and clarity to the seemingly confusing Eagle Scout Process.  We will be reviewing the Troop 156 and BSA Council requirements and policies and will be discuss the necessary forms and paperwork process that must be used along with answering any questions that people might have.

Scouts and Parents - Please read through and familiarize yourselves with the Eagle Scout Process Information provided under Menu/Eagle Scout Process and under Menu/Files/Eagle Documents on the Troops Website and bring any questions that you might have to the meeting.

This meeting is scheduled in lieu of the Troop Meeting which has been cancelled due to Teacher Recognition Day.

Thanks
